No bake Cookies: Cherry-o’s!

February 15, 2012

I learned these addicting cookies from my sister-in-law, who grew up with her Grandma making them.  You really can’t just have one!  And they are so easy to make!

3 cups Cheerios or other cereal
1/2 cup chopped dried cherries or other dried fruit
1/2 cup  chopped walnuts or other nuts
1/2 cup broken-up pretzels (opt.)
12 ounces chocolate chips (I combined dark chocolate with milk and love it!)
2 T. butter

  1. Place a large heat-proof bowl over your saucepan.  In the “double boiler,” melt the butter.  Make sure the boiling water does NOT touch the bowl you are melting your chocolate in.  That will cause scolding.  Add the chocolate to the bowl.
  2. When the chocolate is fully melted, remove from heat.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients.  Stir to coat with chocolate.
  4. Drop dollops onto waxed-paper lined cookie sheets.  Place in the fridge to cool.  When hardened, enjoy!
